Bonds Down Despite Weak Economic Data

The bond opened down on Tuesday despite weaker than expected economic reports.
The Conference Board’s June CCI (Consumer Confidence Index) indicated that consumer confidencewas lower than expected. Forecasted reading was 106, and the report came in at 103.9. This is good news for bonds and mortgage rates as it eases inflation concerns.

Potentially a Mild Week for Mortgage Markets

Bonds are down today, yet mortgage rates improved today as a result of bond market strength late Friday.
There are no critical economic reports due out this week. Tuesday we’ll see May’s Housing Starts, with analysts expecting to see a drop from April to May.
