Stocks Market pushes rates up

22 August 2007

The bond market opened in negative ground on Wednesday as Stocks rallied.テつ Rates could increase today by .25 of a point.テつ テつ Without relevant economic data today, the bond market is being driven largely by the stock market performance.

There is no imporant news due out tomorrow.テつ The weekly unemployment data will come in but this almost never has a bearing on the bond market. テつ The imporant news will be on Friday with July Durable Goods. テつ This will be an imporant measure of manufacturing sector. テつ Friday we’ll also see July New Home Sales data.テつ This will likely not have a large impact on mortgage rates.テつ Durable Goods is much more significant as it is a clearer indicator of inflationary pressures at the level of the producer.
